About Department
Nevsehir Hacı Bektas Veli University Faculty of Arts and Sciences the Department of Modern Turkish Dialects and Literatures, which was founded in 2007, started to offer undergraduate education with 30 students in the 2014-2015 academic year.
Our department has carried on its undergraduate education with its 1., 2., 3. and 4 th grade students since the 2017-2018 academic year. The department provides the students a four-year formal education, and the language of instruction is Turkish.
As Department of Modern Turkish Dialects and Literatures, we mainly aim to train specialists and well equipped academic staff in the field of Turkish language, literature and culture who can form literary, economical and socio-cultural interactions with the other Turkic communities and states and who can conduct significant scientific researches.
In our department, there are also four sub-branches, namely:
South-West (Oguz) Turkish Dialects and Literatures
South-East (Uzbek-Uigur) Turkish Dialects and Literatures
North-West (Kipchak) Turkish Dialects and Literatures
North-East (Saha, Tuva, Khakas, Altai,) Turkish Dialects and Literatures
Occupational Profiles of the Graduates
Career opportunities for the graduates of the Department of Modern Turkish Languages and Literatures are quite rich. The students who graduate from this program are given the title of “Turcologist”. While some of them work as “Turkish Language and Literature Teacher” or “Turkish Teacher” in public or private schools related to the Ministry of Nation Education, they can also work as:
* “Turkish Language Instructors” and “Research Assistants” at universities
* “Researchers” within the Ministry of Culture and Tourism
* “Instructors” at the Mission Institutions and Turkish Culture Centers
* “Specialists” at Atatürk Culture Center (AKM) and TRT
